Profile of Prof. J. O. Akinneye

Professor Akinneye, Joseph Onaolapo is a Professor of Entomology and Storage Techniques at Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State. He completed is Bachelor of Technology (Hons.) from Federal University of Technology Akure, where he achieved second class (Hons) Upper division in Biology Storage Technology in 1998. He also completed Master of Technology in Food Storage Technology from the same University. Consistently he was appointed as an assistant lecture in November 2003. In the same University.

He obtained a Ph.D with a dissertation on Some Aspects of Biology and Control of Ephestia Cautells (Lepidoptera: Pyrallidae) in Cocoa Beans in 2011 at Federal University of Technology, Akure. Subsequently, he was promoted to Senior Lecturer position in 2013 and Professor in 2019 at the same University. He has published over 50 articles in peer-review journals. He has attended many conferences both national and international. He is an active member of many professional societies and is a former chairman of Entomological society of Nigeria (ESN) Akure branch.

His broad research interests are integrated Pest Management, Bio pesticide control of Arthropod Pests and Environmental issues of Pesticides in stored products. Currently his research is focused on Bio pesticides of plant origin against cocoa moth, Bio pesticide control of mosquito, Environmental issues of pesticides in stored product and Bio pesticide control of rodent. His research interests is directed towards optimizing pest management, food security and safety and proffer solutions to some environmental problems.

My carrier objective is to be a good teacher using the modern and friendly methods and current tools of teaching. I also like to establish myself as a good researcher in my field of specialization.
